Key periods in the marketing year.
The periods that shape consumer attention and media demand in Türkiye, month by month, each with a short note for when you start planning. Ramadan and the two Eid holidays fall on different dates every year, so they have a list of their own.
In busy periods ad space books up early and prices can rise. For TV, out-of-home and prominent digital placements, book a few weeks ahead. Exact dates for school holidays and similar periods are announced each year in the school calendar.
January
Start of the new year
1 January
Fresh-start and goal-setting messages land well now, which makes it a good time for sport, education, health and finance.
Winter sales
Throughout January
After December's spending, shoppers are price-conscious, so back sale messages with search and social ads.
Mid-year school break
Late January to early February
Families plan short breaks and activities for children, so travel, entertainment and education brands should start talking a few weeks before.
February
Valentine's Day
14 February
Gift shopping runs right up to the day. Start at least two weeks ahead, and push fast delivery and click-and-collect in the final days.
March
International Women's Day
8 March
The day has a social meaning, so base your message on what your brand actually does on the issue. A celebration built only on discounts or flowers can backfire.
Spring season
Late March into April
New-season messaging starts in fashion, home, garden and automotive, so announce the change of season early on out-of-home and social.
April
23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day
23 April
Children's events and family content come to the fore. Keep the tone respectful of the day and light on selling.
May
Mother's Day
Second Sunday of May
Gift shopping picks up sharply. Start at least two weeks ahead and use language that doesn't leave out different kinds of families.
19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day
19 May
Youth and sport take centre stage, a natural moment for brands in those categories. Keep the tone measured, since the day is also a commemoration.
June
Father's Day
Third Sunday of June
Gift searches cluster around tech, clothing and hobbies. Start the campaign at least two weeks ahead.
End of the school year
Mid-June
Families firm up holiday plans and young people's routines change, so step up travel, entertainment and summer course messaging before this date.
July
Summer holidays
July and August
Big cities go quieter while holiday areas fill up. Shift out-of-home and location-targeted digital ads to where your audience has gone.
Summer sales
Late June to August
It's sale season in fashion and retail. Update price messages in search and social ads quickly as stock changes.
August
30 August Victory Day
30 August
Commemoration and celebration set the tone. Choose a simple greeting that suits the day and keep sales messages out of it.
Back-to-school shopping
Mid-August into September
Shopping for stationery, bags, clothes, tech and courses begins. Switch on social and search ads for parents in the second half of August.
September
Schools reopen
Early to mid-September
Family routines reset, so plan morning and evening radio, TV and digital slots around the new schedule.
Back from holidays, new business season
September and October
Companies turn to the last quarter and next year's budget, which makes this a productive time for B2B campaigns, events and trade press.
October
29 October Republic Day
29 October
Celebration content resonates widely. Keep it simple and respectful of the day, and prepare it early so approvals don't hold it up.
Booking for the year end
October and November
Ad space for the November sales and the new year books up early, so confirm TV, out-of-home and digital bookings in October.
November
10 November Atatürk Commemoration Day
10 November
It's a day of remembrance. Keep campaigns, discounts and entertainment content away from it, and check scheduled posts and automated ads in advance.
Teachers' Day
24 November
Content that thanks teachers is well received, and it suits warm, small-scale messages from education brands and local businesses.
Black Friday
Usually the last Friday of November, with sales often stretched over a week or the whole month
Competition for ad space rises. Announce the campaign a few weeks early, and keep part of the budget for sale week and for retargeting people who left their baskets.
December
New Year shopping
Throughout December
Spending on gifts, food and going out rises. Make last order dates for delivery clear, and bring local ads that drive store visits forward in the final week.
Year end
Last week of December
It's a natural time for a look back, thank-yous and new year wishes. Prepare content for customers and partners well in advance.
Periods that move every year
Ramadan and the two Eid holidays follow the lunar calendar and move about 11 days earlier each year. The Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) announces the exact dates, and the length of the public holiday can change from year to year, so plan around that year's calendar.
Ramadan
Lasts 29 or 30 days and ends with Eid al-Fitr.
Daily rhythms change and media use gathers around iftar and suhoor. Shift your airtime to match, and keep the tone measured and in keeping with the month.
Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Bayramı)
Right after Ramadan; three days following the eve.
Family visits, intercity travel and gift shopping take over. The week before suits shopping messages, and the holiday itself suits travel and greetings.
Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı)
About 70 days after Eid al-Fitr; four days following the eve.
When the holiday is extended, travel demand rises. Launch booking campaigns as soon as the holiday length is announced, and keep greetings on the day itself simple.
